LOCAL WALKING & CYCLING

The holiday village is surrounded by numerous footpaths with wide open countryside and sea views. The COASTAL FOOTPATH runs alongside and through the village. Choose from Fort Victoria or Golden Hill country parks, or spend all day walking along the coast through Colwell Bay, Totland Bay, and the National Trust Headen Warren to Allum Bay and the Needles Experience.

 

GOLDEN HILL COUNTRY PARK

 

Top of the hill down Monks Lane discover the country park, with long distant views of the YAR ESTUARY and TENNISON DOWNS.

 

Walk or cycle through to the RED LION pub for lunch, and to explore the ancient church.

keeping this side of the river walk through Kings Manor farm with it's beautiful bluebell woods in spring, to YARMOUTH, but you meet cows.

YAR CAUSEWAY 


Alternatively, from the Red Lion walk on down the country road  to the YAR causeway, and old railway path with tide mill to YARMOUTH.

 

Take the harbour ferry across to the beach and home again via sea front, cafe's, gift shops, and  planetarium, via the woods of FORT VICTORIA COUNTRY PARK. Or just catch a bus.

COLWELL BAY

 

Only a short walk to this BLUE FLAG beach. Safe swimming, and the traditional bucket-n-spade holiday or crab hunting in the rock pools.
 

Cafe for snacks and ice creams, plus THE HUT famous beach restaurant. Stand up paddle boarding and boat hire.

A short drive away, in West Wight, you can enjoy walking with West Wight Alpacas, Newtown Estuary NT, Calbourne Mill and many cycle routes. Surfers and kite surfing enthusiasts will enjoy Compton Bay, it’s also a great place to go fossil hunting and see the dinosaur footprints at low tide. Tapnell Farm Park and Waterpark is local and great fun for a family day out
